Bevan Bodycheck secure £500,000 Nightfreight fleet maintenance contract
Bevan Bodycheck, the aftercare, service and maintenance division of the Bevan Group, has been awarded a 5 year fleet maintenance contract by Nightfreight, the UK market leader in overnight delivery of irregular dimension and heavy freight.
This pro-active inspection contract, designed specifically for Nightfreight, is scheduled to start in October and will involve maintaining the bodywork of up to 750 commercial vehicles.
A team of 12 qualified Bevan Bodycheck mobile engineers will inspect the bodywork of these vehicles on a six monthly basis along with attending emergency call outs.
The inspection engineers carry a comprehensive stock of spare parts and accessories and guarantee to answer a call out within 12 working hours. Essential maintenance is carried out on-site at the time of inspection, thereby reducing costs and vehicle downtime.
Upon inspection, engineers will provide fleet mangers at Nightfreight with a detailed defect report including digital images, enabling them to take positive action to maintain a safe, secure and immaculate fleet.
Commenting on this latest contract to be awarded to the group, Chris Hare, Managing Director of Bevan Bodycheck said “The nature of the parcel delivery service can be quite brutal on vehicles. Constant loading and unloading of goods with it’s repetitive shutter openings and closings, low hanging branches, bollards in built up areas – all of these factors increase the likelihood of bodywork damage as well as the accelerated wear and tear factors.
We have agreed to carry out pro-active work on the Nightfreight vehicles including replacing the wear elements of the rear shutter every 18 months. This will maximise vehicle availability, keep the goods within the vehicle safe and secure and ensure that parcels are protected from the elements. We’re proud to be involved in this latest step by Nightfreight to further improve its service to customers”
George Ward, Head of Engineering at Nightfreight said “This inspection programme has been introduced to maintain our modern new delivery fleet which we introduced last year as part of our multi million pound investment programme. By ensuring that our vehicles are safe, secure and watertight we hope to reinforce and illustrate our total determination to deliver even better services and even better value to our customers.
The Bevan Group currently supply us with 200 vehicle bodies annually. We’re delighted with the level of quality and service that we have received so far and it makes perfect sense to utilise the aftercare and maintenance facilities available within the group”
