Bevan Group, a leading specialist in the commercial vehicle body build and repair industry, has completed production of a new fleet of vehicles for Expert Logistics, helping to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of the white goods delivery professionals.
The first 10 vehicles were delivered in April, with a further 10 being built each week until the build completed earlier this month. In addition to the design and build service offered by Bevan Group, Expert Logistics also utilised Bevan’s specialist paint and graphics service for the bodies and base frame. The unique ‘metroswop’ system already forms a large part of the Expert fleet and the move towards these extra bodies signals a significant streamlining of their delivery operation. David Ashwell, Managing Director at Expert Logistics explained “We introduced the ‘metroswop’ system back in 2002 to improve our overnight delivery capabilities and reduce our stem mileage. The system has worked incredibly well, it’s helped reduce our carbon footprint and saved us thousands of miles a year. Bevan Group designed and built some of our core fleet in 1997, the bodywork has stood the test of time and performed extremely well - that’s why we’ve gone back to the group 10 years later”

The substantial new contract comprises a total of 94 demountable bodies including 66 x 4.8 metre “metroswop” bodies, 22 x 4.8 metre bodies with load through facility and 6 x extra height bodies for transporting significantly taller goods.
