Leading dry freight commercial vehicle bodybuilder Bevan Group has completed the sales of its Truck Engineering division.
Ownership of the business changed hands on January 11, 2011 with the completion – for an undisclosed sum – of a management buy-out.
A high-profile supplier to some of the biggest fleet operators on Britain’s roads, Bevan Group has headquarters in Halesowen, West Midlands, and a second production facility in nearby Oldbury. Truck Engineering’s premises, meanwhile, are in the neighbouring Black Country town of Darlaston. Bevan Group acquired a majority stake in Truck Engineering seven years ago, to handle major repair work which its own field engineers could not complete at customer locations. Unlike other parts of the Bevan Group business, though, Truck Engineering retained a degree of autonomy, with its own Managing Director, Mark Jones, at the helm. As Bevan Group Managing Director Anthony Bevan explained, significant investments that have increased the capabilities of its field-based aftercare team, coupled with the fact that more repair work is now being handled at the company’s main facilities in Halesowen and Oldbury, meant the time was now right for Bevan to part company with Truck Engineering. “This development gives us total control over the scheduling of repair work and will enable us to further improve the industry-leading quality of service we already offer our customers,” affirmed Mr Bevan. “I would like to take this opportunity to wish Mark Jones and his colleagues at Truck Engineering the very best of luck for the future.” |
