Bevan ensures HobMog hits the road on time

The Graphics team at commercial vehicle bodybuilder Bevan Group are the toast of customer Wychwood Brewery after pulling out all the stops to ensure that a striking new promotional truck could make its debut at an important company event.

Presented with the toughest of deadlines, Bevan’s Graphics Manager Mike Butterly and his colleague Lee White printed the eye-catching Hobgoblin-branded vinyls over a weekend then worked long into the night the following Monday to apply them.

Their efforts paid off as the all-terrain Mercedes-Benz Unimog, which tows a beer can-shaped bar trailer, was completed and delivered in time to play a starring role at the parent company’s annual sales conference, staged at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium.

Dubbed the ‘HobMog’, the truck was chosen primarily for its unusual appearance, which makes it a perfect ‘fit’ for a flagship brand that trades on its distinctive, quirky image.

Joanne Wyke, Senior Brand Manager for the legendary Hobgoblin beer, confirmed: "Delays by another supplier meant that Bevan were right up against it so we’re really grateful that they managed to turn the vehicle around in time for us to present it at our conference.

"It was clearly a labour of love. The ‘HobMog’ looks fantastic and will now play a key role in helping us to raise the profile of our brand by "Bringing taste to the nation” at music and food festivals, and other events, all over the country.”

Wychwood Brewery is located in the market town of Witney, Oxfordshire, on the fringes of the medieval forest of Wychwood. The brewers take inspiration from the ancient myths and legends associated with the forest to create a range of award winning and characterful beers.

Hobgoblin, the brewery’s flagship beer, is now one of the UK’s fastest growing premium brands. Its original and creative branding certainly impressed the judges of last year’s Motor Transport Awards, who presented Wychwood Brewery with their Livery of the Year trophy.

Halesowen-based Bevan Graphics was commissioned to apply the HobMog’s livery after being recommended by sister company A&R Vehicle Services, of Wednesbury, a long-standing supplier to Wychwood Brewery owner Marston’s. The multi-faceted Bevan Group purchased a stake in commercial vehicle repair and refurbishment specialist A&R in 2013 and the two companies now work in close partnership, so that customers of each business also benefit from the other’s expertise.

Marston’s Group Transport Manager Paul Ashmore says: "We have built up a very good working relationship with A&R over many years. They provide a fantastic, competitively priced service and never miss a deadline – on the evidence of their work on the HobMog, the same is true of Bevan Group.”

He adds: "The Mercedes-Benz Unimog has great presence but it’s also a very impressive piece of kit with unrivalled all-terrain capability which is going to be very useful when we have to tow the trailer on and off muddy fields.”

Bevan Group’s Graphics specialists offer a complete livery service. Using the latest software they can develop creative designs, or work with customers’ in-house or agency teams. By employing large format printing technology, computer-cut graphics and the highest quality materials when applying new liveries and undertaking repairs to all types of vehicle, including curtainsiders, they also ensure durability and longevity, as well as branding accuracy and visual impact.
