Bevan Team will Hit the Wall in Coast-to-Coast Charity Run

They’re best known for turning out sleek, aerodynamically efficient commercial vehicle bodies such as the Bevan21 and Bevan ICON – but as this photograph confirms, some members of the Bevan Group team have a little way to go yet before their own silhouettes are a match for the streamlined products they manufacture.

The picture was taken on the Clent Hills in Worcestershire, during a training session for a gruelling, two-day charity run along Hadrian’s Wall.

Bevan’s ‘fantastic five’ are aiming to net thousands of pounds for charity by taking part in The Wall, an epic coast-to-coast challenge that starts in Carlisle and finishes 69 miles later in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Most of the money they raise will go to Help the Heroes, a charity that’s particularly close to the heart of Bevan Group Managing Director Anthony Bevan, whose son Josh is a Royal Marine; Josh’s brother Dan, the company’s Purchasing Manager, will also be taking part.

Father and son will be joined on The Wall by colleagues Lee Dimmock (Operations Director), John Enright (Graphics Manager) and Simon Lake (Business Development Manager).

As well as Help For Heroes they hope to net a tidy sum for the Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, West Midlands, close to their own Halesowen base.

The team, who will also spend a night under canvas high on the rugged Northumberland hills, have called themselves ‘Drinkers With A Running Problem’.
But as Anthony Bevan admits: "Chances are we’ll be too shattered by the end even to reach the bars of Newcastle!”

He adds: "We’ve been spreading the word about our participation among customers and suppliers and the feedback has been remarkably consistent – "You’re mad!”, "Idiots!” and "You’ll never make it,” have been common themes.

"On a serious note, though, we’re all training hard to raise much-needed cash for two very good causes, so any and all donations will be hugely appreciated.”

The Wall takes place on 23-24 June 2012.  Anyone wishing to support Bevan’s Drinkers With A Running Problem by making a donation can do so by visiting www.charitygiving.co.uk/DWARPS
