En-Veco’s environmental expertise adds fresh impetus to the drive for a cleaner, ‘greener’ future

Clean air act: Just-launched En-Veco is offering comprehensive support to operators making the switch to environmentally friendly vehicles.

There’s a new name for emissions-busting truck and van conversions in the UK, and the experts at En-Veco stand ready to support operators as they make the transition to more sustainable road transport solutions.

The latest venture by the fast-growing Bevan Group, En-Veco makes its debut at next week’s (17 March) Sheffield Clean Air Roadshow. Taking pride of place on its stand will be a fully electric Nissan e-NV200 van with high-volume Voltia body.

En-Veco – the name is an abbreviation of ‘environmental vehicle conversions’ – is now responsible for assembling and marketing this zero-emission van in Great Britain and Ireland, and has a fleet of demonstration units which are available for trial by operators.

The 2.2-tonne e-NV200 is ideally suited to ‘last mile’ delivery work in towns and cities. The conversion developed by Slovakian partner Voltia features walk-in rear doors and offers a load volume of up to 8m3, which is virtually twice that of the standard model. A variant with 6m3 cargo area is also available.

En-Veco is also offering a comprehensive bodybuilding service that covers other chassis which employ gas as well as battery power, including hybrids. Its contention is that alternatively fuelled vehicles require specialist bodybuilding knowledge and skills.

In 2018 Bevan Group built the box bodies for two of the first three domestic customers – DPD and Wincanton – to put the ground-breaking FUSO eCanter into service. The 7.5-tonner is the world’s first fully electric light-duty truck to enter series production.

Projects like this, coupled with the close links that have been forged with alternative drive teams at other truck and van manufacturers, mean En-Veco already has the technical expertise customers can rely on.

Announcing the launch of its En-Veco business unit, Bevan Group Sales Director Roy Shelton explains: "It’s self-evident that there are fundamental differences between chassis which rely on alternative sources of power and conventional diesel-engined vehicles, but what’s less obvious is that these can pose particular challenges for bodybuilders.

"It is very easy, for example, to destroy the vehicle’s electronic management system if you don’t know what you’re doing. The experience we’ve already gained through our work with various OEMs and with Voltia ensures that En-Veco can be trusted to avoid the pitfalls, and produce premium-quality bodywork which is perfectly tailored to the operational requirements of the customer.”

En-Veco’s comprehensive range of dry freight body styles, including curtainsiders, boxes, Lutons and dropsiders, can be fabricated from sustainable materials, and will be covered by Bevan Group’s market-leading five-year guarantee.

En-Veco will also source and fit ancillary equipment such as tail-lifts, cranes and roller shutter doors, while roof-mounted solar panels can be installed and used, for example, to recharge power tools carried on board.

Customers seeking a ‘one-stop shop solution’ can also take advantage of the vehicle livery service provided by Bevan Group’s Graphics Depot team, and its Aftercare Response division’s efficient, round-the-clock back-up on vehicle bodies and ancillaries.

Meanwhile, En-Veco will manage the potentially time-consuming Type Approval process for electric and gas-powered trucks and vans. "Our product knowledge, and the volumes of alternatively-fuelled vehicles we’re already handling, will allow us to offer much quicker turnarounds than would otherwise be the case,” continues Roy.

He adds: "The introduction of new clean air zones such as the one which comes into force in Sheffield next year are driving the transformation of our industry, but we all have a stake in ensuring that we leave a cleaner, ‘greener’ planet for future generations.

"We’re determined to play our part by establishing En-Veco in the minds of truck and van operators as the ‘go to’ provider of environmentally-friendly commercial vehicle conversions.”
